History
Tradition, progress, future –
more than 75 years, with vision
Heinz Würfel paved the way for today’s group of companies in 1946 which
marks the year in which he founded Würfel Spedition GmbH in Bremerhaven’s fishing port. The company went on to specialise in fresh fish transportation between Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven. What began as a regional transport service evolved over decades into a dynamic logistics company with comprehensive and in-depth know-how.
When Gert Würfel joined the company in 1947, the second generation continued to write the success story. By investing in various logistics companies Würfel gained valuable experience in other areas of transport and service. During this period, expertise in transport using jumbo swap bodies was developed, in conjunction with numerous innovations and patents.
The year 1995 saw the founding of the company’s own logistics operations, the aim being to offer holistic solutions to cover growing customer requirements. These activities were accompanied by a targeted qualification offensive for the company's own employees to deepen specialist knowledge and solve challenges more quickly. Since then, the company has focused on training and developing its own specialists.
The company entered a new phase in 2010 when Hans-Jürgen Schlausch and Karim Gebara took over the management of the company as principal shareholders. Gert Würfel retired in 2014 but remained associated with the company for some time in an advisory capacity. In 2022, the Jumbo Business Unit was sold to reinforce a consistent focus on contract logistics.
In 2024, the company lost a valued entrepreneur and pioneer with the death of Hans-Jürgen Schlausch. His commitment and vision continue to shape the company and remain a key component of the corporate philosophy.
